Recap

Hey there, folks!  Welcome to Day 5 where nothing that impressive is happening!

So let's back track to Day 1.  You know, the day my school decided to hold A POTLUCK THANKSGIVING DINNER FOR EVERYONE.

THIS WAS JUST THE DESSERT TABLE

Ugh, pure torture.  And they had enough for leftovers on Friday.  But alas, I stuck to the food I had cooked and brought for lunch.  Which included zoodles!

If you haven't gotten in on these yet, you really should.  They are the best thing to happen since Cauliflower Rice (and you KNOW how I feel about that shit).

The process is simple, just invest in one of these bad boys:

And god bless my mother who nearly died from laughter from having to ask the cashier for this utensil by name.  "....Veggetti?! YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME; I'M NOT GOING TO ASK SOMEONE FOR THAT HAHAH"

(Mature, mother.)

Anyway, this week also consisted of making homemade ghee once again.  Y'know, just boiling butter until all the nasty stuff burns off and you strain it through to make LIQUID GOLD.

I can guarantee that it is not, in fact, piss.  Just a delicious alternative to dairy butter!  Ghee also goes fabulously with the zoodles from the veggetti (am I even speaking English anymore?)

And last but not least:

WHOLE FOODS!

Honestly?  Not that much more expensive.  There were a few items (like avocados) that I just could not handle purchasing (SIX DOLLARS FOR FOUR?!), but most of it was very reasonable.  I got everything I needed for the week (excluding thanksgiving)

and it was only slightly more expensive than my regular groceries.

AND THE MEAT.  Oh man, their meat was gorgeous.  I took my photo the day after I bought it, and it just doesn't do it justice.  Everything was cut to order and beautiful.  I had been dying for a while to start buying more ethically raised me and it was totally worth it!

Anyway, next post will probably be over how I deal with Thanksgiving.  Because I'm not really sure what my game plan is yet.

Guess Who's Back?

Back againnnnn

TELL A FRIEND.

Nahh, but really. I know that I've had like three posts of, "HAHAHA, LOOK, I HAVE A BLOG!" but I honestly think now is a good time to keep an update for a few weeks.

First off: Whole 30 Starting on Thursday.

But you're a teacher!!
Where will you find the time?!
THANKSGIVING!!
PIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(hahaha okay, okay, enough with the Eminem gifs.)

I get it.  I have bad timing.  But I have a reason!  I want my Whole 30 to be up right before I fly out to Cincinnati for the holidays to avoid any stomach issues while up there.

"Chrissy, I've been meaning to ask you about all of that...."

Another topic for another post.

BACK TO WHOLE 30:

Am I still Paleo?

Hell yeah.  I only really fell off the wagon this past week.  Prior to that, I had been living more with an 80/20 rule.  I'd still pig out on pizza at parties and stuff, but I would regularly bring my lunch to school and still cook dinner during the week.

But this past week..... Ohhhh this past week...

Pretty accurate.  Why?  Some of it is just stress from work and craving junk.  Some of it (honestly) is all the junk food I never got to try!  I type this as I am dipping into some Ben & Jerry's Core ice cream.  I'll be sick as no one's business, but I felt like I was missing out!

However, I've started to suffer the effects.  My face isn't as clear, I'm more exhausted, and I'm bloated to the point that my kids might start taking bets on when my maternity leave is.  I'm looking forward to having a nice little reboot for my body and my immune system.

(HAHAAHA WHO MAKES THESE? "GO'S"? The English teacher in me is screaming)

Anywho, I'll continue to share recipes and update how everything's going.  I'll be logging my food into a nutrition tracker for my own personal preferences if anyone is curious.  I'm sure that I'll also share hilarious stories of how this goes over with teaching and being offered free food CONSTANTLY.

Wish me luck!
